- Integrated solar, water filtration and greywater reuse — feeding the courtyard’s banana palms
- Converted the detached cottage into a self-contained Airbnb unit; added plunge pool, braai and electric gate
OUTCOME
Heritage preservation and modern off-grid living brought together — the whole home coordinated and completed on time and on budget.

DESIGN & PRODUCTIVE-SYSTEMS BUILD · AS OWNGROWN, 2013
Brooklyn Chest Hospital Food Garden
An abundant productive garden for patients of a Tuberculosis hospital — created on an exposed, low-fertility dune-belt site with a full brief-to-build process.
- Set a holistic goal with staff and patients, then baseline-mapped the whole site
- Designed windbreaks, a small food forest, companion planting and upcycled-pallet raised beds
- Installed three-station irrigation, pathways and a workshop structure for on-site lessons
